WHERE THE EVIDENCE STANDS

The animal literature is large and comes mostly from one group at the University of Zagreb. It reports faster healing of tendon, muscle and gut tissue and effects on blood-vessel formation. As of October 2026 no randomised, placebo-controlled trial in humans has been published for any indication; the human record is a few small uncontrolled pilot studies, a retrospective chart review, and a 2015 Phase I study that never reported.

A Phase 2 trial in acute hamstring strain was registered in February 2026. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee voted 8 to 6 to recommend the compound for the 503A bulks list; the agency has not acted on the recommendation. The compound was listed under WADA's S0 category from 2022.
